Flight Club: Back to the Future

  • Light Centre 9 Eccleston St London, SW1W 9LX United Kingdom (map)

Saturday 18th April
14:30 - 16:30

Looking back to go forward….. Often the obsession with “progressing” in our asana practice means we are eager to get on to the next posture but lose sight of how we are getting there. We can get stuck looking up at these insurmountable ”peak postures.” But it’s the floating back, resetting and retuning to breath, alignment and intention that really elevate your practice; Letting each part be part of the journey, not another stop on the way.

In this workshop we will be focussing on breaking down the various stumbling blocks and inverted postures that “take you back” in dynamic vinyasa sequences. Working on jump-backs, “Camel-Vinyasa” dropbacks, stepping into pincha mayurasana, Walking over into handstands… opening up front body, releasing shoulders and tight hip flexors to help those backbends and inversions in the Ashtanga and Rocket sequences where the flow/breath/meditation is often lost or broken. We will be using the walls, each other, our breath and the proper preparation required to find new ways over around and through those blocks.
