“Balancing on your hands can feel like the ultimate freedom in your body; it’s the closest you can get to flying without leaving the ground.”
But the road is long, with many a winding turn. This workshop will be about preparing yourself, mentally and physically for the journey to Handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana) and fore-arm stand (Pincha Mayurasana): two of the poses in Rocket Yoga that truly get you lifted. How to face the challenges these poses present, and find safe ways to incorporate them into your regular practice when they aren’t yet quite as “sthira sukham asanam” as you might like. Through 3 hours of technique, conditioning, drills, approach and application…. (then 1000 hours of practice at home)… we will get there*.
Much of the confidence to access these poses freely comes from playing around enough on our hands so that it becomes a more familiar place to be - overcoming our first fear: the unknown. Never losing sight of the fact that it’s never about how you look when you get there but how you feel on your way up.
This workshop is not suitable for people who already have an Insta-perfect handstand or Pincha Mayurasna, but for anyone interested in discovering more about these poses and themselves.
